Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Discharge Lounge Healthcare Assistant

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We have positions available for healthcare support workers to complement the existing team. If you are a friendly, outgoing personality with a passion for caring for people to provide a lovely final experience in the discharge lounge, then this is the job for you!

Main duties of the job

The Discharge Lounge opened in August 2022 and has been extremely successful in improving flow through the hospital, by providing a place for patients who are being discharged to await transport and take home medication. Data accumulated so far has shown that the patient experience is enhanced by the discharge lounge, due to a faster turnaround of take home medication, earlier transport access and the high quality of care provided, by our amazing team.

The role of HCA includes liaising with the core wards to bring patients to the lounge, caring for and supporting the patients awaiting discharge, booking transport and communication with families and care providers regarding discharge arrangement. The Discharge Lounge has a small team of substantive staff, but they are required to communicate widely with staff, services and external providers to the hospital, therefore excellent communication skills are an essential element of the job.

Basic computer skills are an advantage, but training can be given if required. Previous HCA experience is essential and informal visits are welcomed.
