Job summary

We would love to tell you about an exciting and innovative opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to be part of the evolving AHP team working on the Neonatal ward at Leighton Hospital.

The Trust has recently received some permanent funding for 1 day per week of OT input on to the neonatal ward, to work alongside the paediatrics staff, nurses, Physio, dieticians and speech and language therapists.

This is a completely new role for the Trust, and as such provides a very exciting opportunity to shape the delivery of the OT service on to the Neonatal ward. Training will be offered to the successful candidate in order to enhance knowledge and skills of working with neonates, in addition to peer support from other OT colleagues throughout the North West network.

Main duties of the job

- Work alongside paediatrics staff, nurses, and other AHPs to provide holistic care on Neonatal wards

- Delivery of training to nursing staff working on the ward - with particular emphasis on positioning, sensory issues etc

- Contribution to ward rounds

- Assessment and intervention of complex presentations

- Ongoing CPD through training opportunities and liaison with colleagues in the North West network

- Liaison and education of parents, and implementation of enhanced communication skills to manage situations with empathy.

- Work alongside AHP colleagues to enhance AHP Service delivery, and coordinate care in a Multidisciplinary approach
