Job summary
The role will provide strategic Senior Nurse leadership to the Cheshire & Merseyside CYP Alliance. They will work with the CYP Alliance Chair to identify workstream focus in-line with national and regional priorities and to work with key members of the Alliance to identify work plans and outcomes to be achieved.
The Lead Nurse will work with the ICB and member Trusts to provide senior leadership to support effective delivery of improvement programmes and work closely with Regional and Trust Lead Nurses, and other health professionals, on key issues pertaining to CYP.
The post holder will provide strong system leadership to define current processes, facilitate discussions and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in line with national policy and best practice. They will work with the Alliance Programme Manager to ensure processes are appropriately documented as they are agreed and oversee their delivery.
As an NMC registered nurse, the postholder will draw upon expert knowledge and experience gained through clinical practice and education to inform operational and policy decisions within this role to ensure the success of the programme.

Main duties of the job
Improving quality and outcomes
- To identify and deliver the Paediatric Alliance Deliverables in line with agreed system objectives.
- To identify best practice in line with Alliance deliverables and develop quality improvement approaches with system colleagues to drive this improvement. This will include ongoing outcomes monitoring to support the development of business cases to ensure operational delivery as Business as Usual
- To work collaboratively across the ICB and member Trusts, as well as stakeholders from other organisation to integrate best practice to the delivery portfolio.
- Enabling patient and public involvement
- To act as a champion for CYP and their families, their interests in the policy development and decision-making. Alongside the Alliance chair, convene system paediatric delivery to develop / improve clinical pathways in line with clinical best practice.
