Job summary
This is an 10 PA post in the Department of Paediatric Burns and Plastic Surgery, with a special interest in the management of upper limb conditions, including congenital hands, cerebral palsy spasticity and vascular malformations. The appointee will join the existing congenital hand and vascular malformations teams. The appointee will also provide a general paediatric plastic surgery service, including participating in the on-call rota, which includes burns as well as paediatric plastic surgery trauma. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in service development activity for the department and will be supported to undertake research and audit.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide a paediatric plastic surgery service with an interest in upper limb conditions. The post-holder will join the wider MDT for the management of congenital hands, participating in MDT clinics, offering new and outpatient follow up and carrying out surgery. There will be scope for additional development of specialist skill in this field. The post holder will also contribute to the management of hand trauma and spasticity for cerebral palsy. In addition, the appointee will join the vascular anomalies team for upper limb anomalies and deliver some laser treatments. The appointee will join the Alder hey 1 in 6 on call rota, category A, based at Alder Hey. The on-call rota incudes paediatric burns as well as plastic surgery trauma
