An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment to be part of a team delivering a pilot project of care closer to home for paediatric haematology/oncology patients.
We are looking to employ a motivated band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, who is keen to join our team delivering high class care for children and young people affected by cancer and Haematology conditions. The post is a full-time fixed term position however a secondment would be considered. This will involve providing chemotherapy and supportive care within the community setting.
Applicants should have relevant experience in caring for children and young people with cancer and other haematological conditions.
The successful applicant will be supported through a structured development approach.

Main duties of the job
Manage a defined caseload and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care closer to home.
Achieve a high standard of nursing care. Demonstrate through practice the desired role model to guide all grades of nursing staff.
Promote an environment suitable for the care of children with haematology/oncology conditions.
Promote evidence based nursing practice.
Contribute to the provision of an effectively management unit by ensuring the needs of the patients, staff and visitors are met.

Oversee the student placements ensuring mentors and assessors are up to date and monitor assessors portfolio as part of triennial review through PDR process.
Undertake training for the ward staff.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INFORMATION RESOURCES
Take on audits, both locally to the unit and trust wide. Collection of data, interpretation and presentation at clinical governance and departmental meetings.
Oversee and ensure record keeping is consistent and maintains confidentiality.
