Job summary

The Cardiac Department at Alder Hey is the major referral centre for children and their families with all forms of heart disease from the Northwest region including Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria, North and mid Wales and the Isle of Man with a catchment area of about 7.5 million. The cardiac team reviews approximately 6500 outpatients per year at Alder Hey.

You will work in a stimulating environment with a friendly motivated team performing clinical echocardiography as well as a full range of advanced clinical duties including invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations.

The Trainee Echocardiographer will work through a programme of learning and academic accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The post offers an exciting opportunity for a physiologist to train in paediatric echocardiography. We will support the post holder in achieving accreditation with the European Association of Cardio Vascular Imaging (EACVI) in paediatric echocardiography, which is integral and essential to this position and future progression. This would be reviewed annually at their PDR.

You will undertake a structured in-house training program in order to practice competently in the paediatric field.
