Job summary
This is a full time post as Clinical Fellow in Developmental Paediatrics for a period of two years. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in Neurodevelopment Paediatrics/ Safeguarding. The post is suitable for trainees to further their experience in this area applying on the MTI scheme. Applicants wishing to work part-time should also apply.
The appointee will join a team of Consultant Paediatricians and seven SASG doctors working in the fields of Neurodevelopment, Social and Educational Paediatrics and Safeguarding. The team works across North Mersey (Liverpool, Knowsley, North and South Sefton). The clinical work will be carried out mainly in one patch, working closely with a patch consultant. The applicant will have an opportunity to get experience in management of children with complex needs and also to develop an area of interest. The trainee will also get experience in Safeguarding in our specialist safeguarding unit.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties: -
Share with the Community Consultant, clinical responsibility for referrals from Primary Care, other consultants within the Trust, Child Mental Health and Social Services/Education. The postholder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team. Clinical work will be particularly around: -
- vulnerable children
- developmental delay
- assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental disorders/neurodisability
- assessment and diagnosis of ADHD and ASD working jointly with ADHD/ASD specialist nurse
- behavioural problems, to assess whether there are underlying developmental aetiologies
- Children to be reviewed in the Looked After service.
Child Protection
The post holder will provide first on-call daytime on-call cover for the safeguarding unit and will be given an opportunity to be involved in first on-call out of hours cover in 1:5 rota until midnight. The consultant of the week will provide support, advice and supervision.
