Job summary

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust, Community Division, Speech & Language Therapy Service is seeking to appoint 2 Pathway Co-ordinators (PCO) who will work closely with the Operational Manager to support the growing clinical and administration team to enhance the expertise within our dynamic and versatile team.

The service covers the populations of Sefton and Liverpool and has administrative bases in Kilby House, Netherton Health Centre and Ainsdale Centre for Health and Well-being.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to provide a comprehensive administrative service within the Community Speech & Language Therapy Service. The post holder's main duties will include planning, organising, directing and coordinating the work of the admin team.

The Pathway Co-ordinator will be expected to work with the minimum of supervision. He/she will be able to demonstrate flexibility and use own initiative to carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation. It is vital that confidentiality be maintained at all times. The post holder must adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.

Essential

  • Experience in a secretarial/administrative role performing comprehensive secretarial / administrative duties in a challenging and constantly changing environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages.

Desirable

  • BTEC or equivalent level of knowledge of a range of Trust policies and management procedures, requiring experience or ongoing further development/ training, e.g.Team Leading & Management
  • Typing and word processing skills. Administration or RSA level 111 qualification or equivalent.

Experience of

Essential

  • The use of information systems, e.g., word processing packages, spreadsheets, databases, patient administration system, email etc.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Be able to adopt a flexible approach when required by the needs of the service.

Desirable

  • Experience of conducting personal development plans.
  • Experience of waiting list/diary management

Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.

Desirable

  • Experience in the use of EMIS or Meditech (Patient Record and administration systems)
