Job summary
Alder Hey are seeking a Policy Lead who wants to make a difference for children and young people's outcomes, to engage in and advise on development and formation of policy around children and young people's health and wellbeing.

Alder Hey's Chief Executive has recently been appointed as the NHSE National Chair of the Children and Young People's Transformation Board; the post holder would advise and support the CEO in both this and her strategic Trust roles and responsibilities, along with the Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer - supporting both the delivery of the Trust's 2030 Vision and the development of the Trust's national voice and impact on behalf of children and young people.
Main duties of the job
The right candidate will be a highly skilled operator, with the specialist relationships, skills, and experience to take corporate responsibility for influencing and developing policy or service development, which impacts across or beyond the organisation, nationally and locally.
They will lead on undertaking research and analysis as a key element of the role, synthesising highly complex information from a range of policy, legislative and other documents. Candidates can also be considered on a secondment arrangement subject to relevant agreements.
The candidate will support the CEO and key Executives, professionally representing the CEO's office. They will have the ability to deliver engaging presentation material for the CEO and themselves in large and influential meetings. They will prepare policy briefs, stay abreast of key policy developments, and highlight the issues and alignment with Trust priorities - supporting the Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer in the continual shaping of Trust strategy in line with policy direction.

As one of Europe's biggest and busiest children's hospitals, we treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions. We are recognised as a Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, cardiac, spinal and brain disease. We have been designated by the Department of Health as a national centre for craniofacial surgery and epilepsy surgery. Alder Hey is also a designated Paediatric major trauma unit.
