Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available within the integrated Alder Hey and Liverpool Heart and Chest Digital Service. We are looking for a talented, highly motivated Associate Director for Data and Analytics to work across both Trusts.

The post holder will, under the direction of the Deputy Chief Digital Information Officer, be responsible for all service activities relating to the delivery of Data and Analytics. This will include the management of all staff and suppliers engaged in those activities.

They will direct Data and Analytics, using a facilitative approach to improve the experience for service staff, patients and families. This role will involve some complex negotiation with senior managers at both at an operational and strategic level.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist knowledge alongside the CDIO and be responsible and accountable for the delivery of health informatics led information service, formulating the provision of data led insights to trust CxO stakeholders, along with the system development , data quality, information governance, information reporting and system management functions within the Trust across multiple sites.
  • To garner working relationships within medical, nursing, operational and corporate divisions providing world class insight and service in an effective and mutually supportive relationship ensuring the trust takes advantage of world class developments in the production and display of information.
  • Establish and maintain regular data quality review cycles ensuring the trust data quality is maintained in line with national reporting requirements and clinical need.
  • Deliver and then support digital system improvement projects ensuring the department follows best in class development and management methodologies, continually improving the clinical and wider organisational engagement early in the system lifecycle;
  • Be responsible for the team who operate information reporting database systems both at a departmental and at a trust wide service level - ensuring the data architecture is maintained;.

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, in Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park building in the nearby borough of Sefton.

  • Provide knowledge and skill to fulfil day to day leadership responsibilities for the Business Intelligence, Information services, Clinical Coding and Data Quality.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality information and analysis service over a wide and varied agenda to the Trust. They will prioritise and manage the delivery of information and lead on all key areas of informatics
  • To lead in the development of information systems for the capture and interpretation of hospital patient based performance information. E.g. Traffic Lights, Performance Assessment Framework, Corporate Report, etc and ensure that key targets are met.
  • To develop the Trust Performance Assessment Framework and the range of key performance indicators and reports including the corporate report
  • To lead in the delivery of highly complex information on patient activity across a wide range of performance indicators to support evidence-based decision making and performance monitoring at local, operational, and strategic level.
  • Be the trust thought leader on Business Intelligence and Information to establish and maintain a world-class service including leadership to the staff who operate within this service;
