Services within cath lab are continuing to expand and we now have opportunities for a Band 3 Transfer Team Assistant to join our teamThe successful applicant would be expected to play a role in the day-to-day organisation, implementation and evaluation of a patients care and transfer to and from in the cath lab. A strong induction and competency-based programme is in place to provide all the necessary support in a highly specialised, fast paced and rapidly changing environment. There is a focus on using technology to support patient care in the lab so IT skills will be necessary. These roles would be suited to enthusiastic, motivated persons keen to develop their knowledge and skills in caring for cardiac patients and become part of an expanding and dynamic multi-disciplinary team in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of cath lab patients around the hospital both before and after procedures and for supporting the patients during their time in the forward waiting area of the Dept.
To transport patients safely around the Trust using appropriate equipment
To check and change medical gas cylinders.
Utilising the Care cube system, locate all patients on the cath lab schedule.
Ensure collection slips are prepared in advance of the lists.
To checklist the patient on arrival at the ward to ensure they are correctly prepared before leaving for the lab
Ensure a handover of important information to the receiving nurse is made.
To use Basic Life Support skills in assessing the patients condition and asking for help/support as required
In conjunction with the Cath lab co-ordinator, care for the patient in forward waiting before their procedure, providing support as required.
To liaise with the Cath lab co-ordinator throughout the day to ensure an efficient service.
Ensure effective communication between the Wards and the Cath Lab.
Liaise with the equipment library, medical engineering and Pharmacy on behalf of the nursing team in each lab as required.
Collect equipment / drugs from various departments as the need arises
Liaise with stock team and order cath lab consumable items from NHS logistics.
Ensure forward waiting is kept clean, tidy and clutter free
Ensure the scrub suits are unpacked and distributed to the staff changing rooms when delivered.
Ensure cath packs are stored appropriately when delivered and each lab has an adequate stock for their lists.
Ensure gown packs are stocked up regularly in each lab.
Ensure the linen store is kept tidy.
Ensure beds, trolleys and chairs are organised in recovery.
Ensure trolleys and chairs are cleaned thoroughly between uses.
Undertake a range of clerical duties to ensure a smooth-running service, this will involve:
Reception/telephone duties
Basic computer skills
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas.
