Job summary

An exciting training opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified individual to join our dynamic and developing team within the respiratory diagnostic department. It is for a trainee assistant respiratory physiologist.

As a band 2 trainee, you will be expected to follow a well-structured training pathway, where you will obtain the care certificate alongside accreditation and registration from the ARTP enabling you to perform quality assured diagnostic spirometry. At which point if all competencies are met you would be able to progress onto the band 3 scale.

Main duties of the job

To undertake a period of training in order to become proficient in delivering quality assured services.To assist Respiratory Physiologists in the delivery of Spirometry and Sleep services within Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and all other designated clinics within the community and mobile venues.To assist in the preparation and cleaning of all appropriate equipment for the delivery of respiratory services to all our stakeholders.To work according to all approved policies and guidelines to fulfil key performance indicators in the delivery of service contracts to commissioners.

  • To perform quality assured Spirometry testing and associated tests as requested in all designated areas throughout LHCH and the Community
  • To comply with LHCH and departmental policies to ensure optimal quality testing
  • To be proficient at basic Spirometry interpretation
  • To ensure all data is appropriately recorded and archived in line with Trust policy
  • To prepare Sleep diagnostic equipment for patient testing ensuring the correct cleaning and maintenance procedures are adhered to.
  • To ensure that individual portfolios and competencies are up to date ensuring compliance with LHCH clinical governance requirements
  • To acquire and maintain basic life support resuscitation competence
  • To communicate effectively with patients, their families, associates and colleagues
  • To engage effectively within the multidisciplinary team
  • To assist in maintaining stock control and general housekeeping of department
