Job summary

To manage the provision of patient focused pharmaceutical care with emphasis on the technical aspects of ordering, dispensing, issuing, distribution and stock control on medicines, in conjunction with the Pharmacy Patient Services Manager.

To manage and co-ordinate pharmacy IT technical services in conjunction with the other Senior Technicians.

To manage the pharmacy computer systems in conjunction with the other Senior Technicians including development and management of SOP's.

To assist in co-ordinating and developing the technical IT aspects of dispensing and issuing medicines within the dispensary in relation to the provision of patient-focused pharmaceutical care.

To ensure that the pharmacy system supports, where possible, EPR processes

To coordinate and provide training to all pharmacy staff on the pharmacy systems

To provide optimisation, development, and support of the Trust's EPR System pertaining to medicines under the direction of the lead EPR Pharmacist and EPR Manager

Main duties of the job

  • BTEC (Pharmaceutical Sciences) and NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • BTEC (technician checking)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Training and experience in analysis of clinical databases

  • Training or experience in IT or informatics

Knowledge and experience

  • Qualified for at least 4 years (3 years minimum hospital pharmacy experience)
  • Experience in education and training of staff
