Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the regional roll out of Oliver McGowan Mandatory training across Cheshire and Merseyside until end of March 2026. We are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated individual who has experience of delivering training on learning disability and autism.

This role will require a flexible approach to working patterns and the ability to travel within the region to deliver training. Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the programme; starting up, implementing and delivery, supporting, facilitating, monitoring progress and evaluating the project. This will support a variety of work streams to ensure that the project is delivered to agreed expectations and on time

Whilst this is not a clinical role, the emphasis will be on enhancing the delivery of training in relation patient care and to all staff within clinical and non-clinical services.

To recruit, train, develop and work directly with Experts by Experience (EBE's) with a Learning Disability, Autism, or both, as well as clinical experts in these fields. Therefore, the post holder will be required to communicate and engage clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels.

Demonstrates ability to effectively support experts with lived experience co-trainers, ensuring they are fully included and supported in the delivery of the sessions, helping them to develop skills and confidence.

Undertakes a supervisory role for expert with lived experience co-trainers, ensuring appropriate support, leadership and coaching in line with organisational expectations.

Demonstrates the ability to co-deliver training sessions. The sessions will utilise a range of best practice methods, including traditional training delivery, group discussions, and film.

Ability to teach large groups multi-professional, multi-agency.

Employs learning interventions that are learner centred.

Ensures all the learning outcomes are fully achieved.

Recognises and addresses the needs of individuals and the group prior to, during and after the session.

Helps to keep participants and staff safe and confident in their surroundings and acts on safeguarding and health and safety concerns in line with organisation policies.

Appropriately challenges poor practice.

  • Good standard of education - equivalent of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English
  • Clear experience of proficient and successful delivery of online and face to face training in health and social care or similar environment.
  • Experience delivering high quality services to people with a learning disability and autistic people in a professional role such as a trainer, registered nurse in learning disability, occupational therapist or social worker, or can demonstrate an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Has experience leading and developing quality practice in others.
  • Robust experience, understanding and application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 within in a health and/or social care environment or similar.
  • Robust experience and understanding of the Human Rights Act 1998, the Autism Act 2009, The Equality Act 2010, UK legal valid consent laws and DNACPR case law.
  • Commitment to own professional development.
