Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for 1 candidate to help build a motivated and efficient Team to perform the day to day collection and transportation of all types of waste including clinical waste, domestic waste, recycling waste and sharps containers.

Our Trust is committed to provide a high quality services that is complaint to all waste management regulations. Toidentify waste reduction and recycling opportunities. We are looking for candidates to join our team who are looking to make a difference and assistour trust in achievingcompliance and implementing improvements.

Main duties of the job

Driving the Trust vehicle to collect all waste management including clinical, domestic, cardboard, and recycle waste

To Be responsible for the Safe and efficient collection and transportation in the Trust vehicle of General waste, clinical waste, offensive waste, sharps containers and recycling waste from all wards and departments, deliver to the waste

management compound for disposal adhering to all safe practices and policies. Responsible for Labelling all containers identifying waste within different waste Streams

Job description

Job responsibilities

To Adhere to the collection schedule, and review as required to the risks and demands of the trust.

Responsible for adhering to appraisals system to ensure evidence of competency of and personal development plans .

Responsible for completing and updating as required all mandatory training .

Assist to identify potential areas of improvement and of non-compliance and performance .

To be competent to use equipment for all aspects of waste management – Full training will be provided. To be vigilant and move waste around the site.

To ensure all waste is correctly segregated into the appropriate waste containers – Full Training will be provided Ensure all Adhoc request are completed within the timescales required.

Understanding of all waste procedures and practices- SOPs

Required to complete all training provided in all aspects in waste management processes and equipment

To carry out all other reasonable management request to for fill the requirements of the trust.

· Liaising with external lease companies in the absence of Team leader/ supervisor

· Collection and transportation of used linen and laundry across the Trust, store appropriately

Record accurate details of duties performed

Record records of daily mileage

Interact with staff, patient and visitors in a professional, friendly and polite manner

On request deliver and collect sharp smart system in accordance with training provided

Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and tidy inside and out at all times, and is parked safely and securely when driver is away from vehicle.

Responsible for cleaning the vehicle internal and external using equipment supplied

Responsible for washing of the waste containers as per schedule

Responsible for daily checks of the vehicle such as damage, wheel pressures, water level and fuel status etc

Responsible for recording millage and submitting millage sheets daily

Responsible for reporting incidents, risks and damage, identified during daily duties

Responsible for holding a communication radio to report non – compliance and any risk identified to Team leader/ supervisor

Maintain a log of waste units on site

Responsible for ensuring all containers are locked and breaks set prior to transportation as per policy and recorded any issues faults and non- compliance

To be familiar with site Fire emergency procedures – Training will be provided

Report any Pest and Rodent activity to Team leader/ supervisors

To comply with Health and safety and waste regulations when moving waste around the site

To drive Trust owned vehicles complying at all times with current Road Traffic Acts and rules within the current Highways Code.

Responsible for regular run out of the Trust vehicle to maintain good engine condition

To make sure that all Health & Safety / Waste regulations and C.O.S.H.H advice is adhered to
