Main duties of the job
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, committed and experienced Aseptic Services Pharmacist to join our busy team in providing a high quality aseptic service, including cytotoxics, parenteral nutrition and CIVAs to this Trust . The Aseptic Services Unit operates under Section 10 exemption.The post provides an opportunity to be involved in multidisciplinary team meetings and the post holder will also participate in providing a clinical ward pharmacy service, providing a high level of pharmaceutical care to patients, providing and analysing relevant financial information, undertaking clinical audit and being actively involved in the education and training of junior pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists and other healthcare professions.Participation in the rotas for weekend working, late night working, Bank Holidays and pharmacy on-call will be required. We have over 100 staff operating across Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals. We have established automated dispensing systems within the dispensaries at both sites. Our Pharmacy Team is committed to continuous personal and professional growth and aims to give the necessary support to ensure that our team members' needs can be met.

Act as a highly specialised deputy for the Aseptic Services Manager in the provision of professional supervision for all activities related to aseptic dispensing and batch manufacturing to ensure the safe, effective and efficient use of medicines within available resources. This includes provision of cytotoxics, parenteral nutrition and CIVA services. Undertake final product checking and release of aseptically prepared products prepared under Section 10 (Medicines Act 1968) and potentially in the future under an MHRA Specials licence. Provide technical and clinical information to medical and nursing staff and other health care professionals and advise patients on the best use of their medicines. Participate in delivering training to pharmacists, technicians, pre-registration pharmacy graduates and assistants. Maintain and carry out all duties in compliance with Rules and Guidance to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs). Promote team working in the Aseptic Services Unit (ASU) and Pharmacy Dept.
