Senior Clinical Fellow in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery

Job summary

This post is for a Senior Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (Clinical) Fellow post, which will run to until end of fixed term appointment date.

This is a whole time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

The successful candidate will train within the Burney Breast Unit with the Breast Surgery team and will have the opportunity to also work with the Plastic Surgery team; Breast services are delivered over the 2 sites within the Mersey West Lancashire Trust (Whiston Hospital and St Helens Hospital).

Due to the imminent requirement to fill this post, Candidates who are not GMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application will not progress through shortlisting stage.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the elective activity of the unit by assisting in a variety of Diagnostic and Results/Follow-up clinics and Breast theatre lists; independent practice is encouraged once the candidate is appropriately inducted into the unit.

Regular participation in Breast Screening & Main Oncology MDT is expected.

The candidate will be responsible for the management of the oncoplastic breast MDT. They will also be expected to participate in the DIEP planning MDT monthly.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
