An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled physiotherapist with an interest and passion for Orthopaedics to join our team.

This post is an excellent opportunity for experienced Band 5s or current Band 6s looking to develop their leadership skills and specialist clinical skills in an inpatient Orthopaedic setting. There are opportunities to contribute to the development of the service in areas including, elective, trauma and neck of femur.

The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills within the trauma and orthopaedic field, be able to communicate effectively and have good organisational and time management skills.

Main duties of the job

The ability to work both individually and as a member of a team and to prioritise a busy workload is a key requirement of this post. Previous experience within this area is essential. A minimum of 18 months post graduate experience is preferable.

You will be expected to support student placements with the opportunity to gain a clinical educator qualification if needed.

A robust supervision and in-service training programme will ensure you are supported throughout your time with us. CPD and all training opportunities are actively encouraged to ensure your personal objectives and clinical development are achieved.

The team provides inpatient and outreach services across Whiston and St Helens Hospital sites providing an excellent service for both trauma and elective patients.

A flexible approach to day to day tasks is essential, in order to meet the demands of the service. The service operates over 7 days per week and extended hours until 6.30pm on a rota basis. The successful candidate will work (0.6wte) 3 days a week over the 7 days that the service is provided.

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
