Staff Nurse - Gynaecology OPD (fixed term 4 months)

The closing date is 25 January 2026

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Band 5 Registered Nurses at 37.5 hours for our Gynaecology outpatients department. Fixed term role of 4 months.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated nurse who has an interest in women's health. Are you a caring and self-motivated nurse who is a strong team player but also has an enthusiasm for working autonomously with excellent communication skills?

The service is currently Monday to Friday, though you will need to be flexible as clinics may change due to demand. You will also be asked to travel to support some of our community clinics.

There will be opportunities for learning and development especially in nurse led clinics. You will be responsible for working with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure smooth running of the clinic, ensuring patients are kept informed of waiting times, prioritising tasks as appropriate, keeping well-coordinated stock levels or equipment and patient information leaflets.

Due to the short term nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the NMC and have existing right to work in the UK, at the time of application.

Candidates who are not NMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application will not progress through the shortlisting stage.

Main duties of the job

That the patient's plan of care is reviewed, evaluated and update in accordance with the clinical condition and that all documentation is completed to the required standard. To advocate patient involvement so that care can be reflected as individualised.

To assist in the setting and monitoring of standards of nursing care within the ward.

To liaise with all relevant disciplines involved with direct care so that all facets of patient care are assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated.

To maintain safe custody of drugs, ensuring that checking, witnessing and administration procedures are compatible with statutory and trust requirements.

To encourage the participation of the patient's carer(s) in the assessment of care needs.

To initiate and participate in the promotion of health education.

To maintain effective communication, keeping the person in charge who has continuing responsibility informed of changes affecting patients & staff.

To abide by the relevant Codes of Professional Practice if applicable and NHS Codes of Conduct.
