Job summary
This exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the forward-looking and enterprising Logistics/Transport team of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - working from Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals.
You will be responsible for the delivery of goods to various locations of busy acute hospital service and for ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day Transport and Stores function.You will have an understanding of Logistics and an ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities include delivering medical equipment to Sterile services, medical records, pharmacy, pathology samples and general distribution of goods and paperwork to agreed locations within the Trust in a timely and efficient manner.
You will need to be flexible and capable of working effectively within the busy environment of the Trust's Transport and Logistics Teams.
The JD & PS are currently under AfC review and are subject to change.
Main duties of the job
- To assist the Logistics Team leader with the day to day running of the transport and stores department and accuracy of the transport paperwork.
- Assist with the transport and delivery of Sterile services, medical records, pharmacy and general distribution of goods.
- You will need to be flexible and capable of working effectively within the busy environment of the Trust's Transport and Stores Teams.
- Flexibility in approach to meet changes to Transport schedules.
- Ensure compliance with all legislation relating to all road users.
- Liaison with Transport and Portering staff to organise the efficient transfer of goods in an appropriate manner.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
