The postholder would be based at our department in Aintree University Hospital, one of the UK's most dynamic and comprehensive Regional Maxillofacial Units. It is the home of the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre which brings together a breadth of internationally recognised clinical and scientific expertise in the treatment of head and neck cancer.

Main duties of the job
The work is interesting and fulfilling, fabricating complex facial prosthetics, custom virtual surgical plans, with guides, for both oncology and orthognathic surgery, implants and trauma devices in one of the busiest trusts for orthognathic surgery and head and neck cancer treatments.
The postholder would be based at our department in Aintree University Hospital, one of the busiest trusts for orthognathic surgery and head and neck cancer treatments.
The work can be challenging, but very rewarding and we strive to have a supportive team across all three sites.
You would be responsible for providing complex prosthetic services to a range of patients, assisting with 3D planning services and providing trauma splinting devices as required.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

KEY DUTIES
To deliver a prosthetic service to Aintree University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Provide surgical and osteotomy planning assistance using digital planning tools (e.g., Dolphin, Freeform, Mimics).
Assist with rehabilitation via facial prosthetics.
Create and fit splints and trauma devices as required.
The role may evolve and encompass other duties.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct and train STPs and other medical/nursing staff in prosthetics technology.
Assess and review patients in clinic and provide prostheses as necessary.
Deliver 3D planning services and participate in surgical planning.
Conduct complex intra-ocular impressions and fit osseointegrated implants.
Work with MPTs to prioritize referrals and patient care needs.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage all administrative elements connected to the delivery of the prosthetic service.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
Train and instruct STPs and other relevant staff.
Actively participate in Medical and Surgical training programs.
PROESSIONAL LEADERSHIP
Support the delivery of prosthetic services across various disciplines.
Ensure adherence to health and safety, MHRA/MDA compliance, and COSHH regulations.
Represent the Trust by delivering scientific papers and presentations as needed.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Empower and support trainees, ensuring they maintain the required skills for safe patient care.
DELIVERY OF EFFECTIVE HEALTH CARE
Implement benchmarking strategies to monitor patient safety and quality indicators.
