Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated, forward-thinking individual to become part of our committed team who work in the Cardio-Respiratory Department as an Assistant Technical Officer.

You will be proficient in a range of investigations, performing ECG, Blood Gas analysis, Ambulatory Monitor Hook Up etc.

An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.

Main duties of the job

  • ECG's throughout the Trust - wards, clinics, A & E and other departments
  • Cardiac monitoring during clinical procedures eg. cardioversions, carotid sinus massage and valsalva manoeuvres
  • Basic spirometry and Peak Flows
  • Arterial blood gas analysis
  • Non-invasive BP measurement
  • Blood glucose measurement
  • Holter monitoring, 24 hr ambulatory ECG & BP hook up
  • Actively participate at cardiac arrests
  • Participate in audit collection
  • Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and reporting of any faults to a senior physiologist

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

  • Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths or equivalent qualification/experience

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent/qualification/ experience in a healthcare role

  • Be able to work under remote supervision
  • At least 6 months experience as a basic ATO
  • Be competent in performing ECG, spirometry, ambulatory hook up & blood gas analysis
