Job summary

This post is for a Locum consultant GP in Primary Care. This is a part time fixed term post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated GP to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

Working 20 Hours per week Monday's and Thursday's 8:30am to 6:30pm

5 PAs per week

Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the GP Register.

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, patients medical reports and examinations (e/.g insurance companies) on behalf of the Practice referral letters NHS/private, paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner:

  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred or referred from other health care works with the organisation:
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous IT based consultation notes to be agreed standards;
  • Collecting data for audit purposes;
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible);
  • Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines
  • In general the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care
  • Managing clinical systems, including medical reviews,
