Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Geriatric Medicine with a specialist interest in Movement Disorder. This is a whole-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire.
Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview. CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.

Main duties of the job
This post will enable the Department of Medicine for Older People to ensure that the Trust continues to deliver specialist care to patients with neuro degenerative disease and particularly patients with Parkinson's disease and provide clinical and speciality leadership for the service.
The post is for 10 PAs
DCC - 7.5 PASPA - 2.5 PA
Currently, the weekend rota for the department is provided by 2 independent rotas. There is a DMOP 1 in 8 on call rota with emphasis on frailty unit ward rounds on the Frailty unit and review of new patients following a set board rounds on core geriatrics wards . The non-stroke geriatricians contribute to the 'Physician of the Day' rota for out of hours on take for which a supplement is paid.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.
Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
