An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Ward Sister/Charge Nurse on Ward 2D . The new post holder will join our already existing, dedicated, and friendly team of staff on Ward 2D at Whiston Hospital. The post holder should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in an acute setting
Ward 2D is an extremely busy ward with a high turnover of patients and staff care for acutely ill patients with a wide range of Respiratory and medical conditions.
The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse is expected to be dynamic and enthusiastic and be able to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained. The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse is also responsible for assisting the Ward Manager with budget control and staff development.
- Prior experience of leading a team is essential
- Evidence of relevant on-going professional development

Main duties of the job
- To be responsible in association with the team leader for the formulation and implementation of individual patient care plans.
- To participate in the holistic assessment of patients, and to formulate and review individual patient care plans and to act as 'named nurse' or associate for a group of patients from admission to discharge as determined by the Ward Manager.
- To commence and participate in research/special projects as directed by the ward manager.
- To contribute to the setting, maintaining, and monitoring of standards of care within the ward.
- Help to ensure that all equipment is in safe working order in conjunction with the department equipment controller.
- Internal rotation on to night duty and twilight shifts as required.
- To assist in the promotion of effective communication with all ward staff and other departments as required.
- Promote the safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy.
