Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 MRI radiographers to join our busy MRI team at Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to join our family-friendly team. A minimum of 6 months MRI experience is necessary for this role. The role is to be part of the MRI shift team, involving some rotation though CT and Plain Film. The MRI shift covers 7 days per week across our 2 main hospitals on the previous St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals sites.

The department is extremely proactive and continually aims to improve its service to patients. Radiographers are actively encouraged to take part in clinical governance, audit, training and continuing professional development. There are active opportunities for role development within the department. A member of the team enrols on the MRI Post Graduate Certificate at Lancaster University each year.

Main duties of the job

Our department at Whiston hospital contains a GE 1.5T Signa Voyager whilst our CDC at St Helens Hospital houses a GE 1.5T Signa Explorer Lift and a GE 3T Signa Pioneer. The department offers a full range of MRI examinations, including specialist services such as arthrography, breast and enterography.

Our award-winning trust is recognised for the high level of patient care that we give to all our patients. The Radiology department has recently had our QSI accreditation renewed and performs over 330,000 examinations per year. We have a reputation for delivering a high-quality clinical service with excellent patient care. The Radiology department operates 24 hours a day and is constantly developing, meeting increasing demands and requirements whilst utilising the latest technology and techniques.

Applicants must hold the BSc in Radiography or the DCR(R) and be HCPC Registered. A Post Graduate Certificate in MRI is preferred, but not essential.
