An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director of Nursing & Quality to join our outstanding Trust.
We are looking for a dynamic and inspiring nursing leader with extensive experience, who is highly motivated and driven to facilitate the delivery of the very best patient experience and outcomes.
Responsible to the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance, this post is a key professional nursing leader within the Trust. The post holder will be a natural collaborator, working effectively with all divisions and clinical departments in the Trust. MWL is looking for someone who has the ability to inspire, motivate and influence across both professional and organisational boundaries developing the nursing and midwifery workforce to reach its full potential, in order to deliver quality and safe services to the population we serve.

You should have the ability to provide strategic vision, strong communications skills and demonstrate clinical expertise and experience in directing and influencing change in an engaging way.
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational senior nurse whose career plan is to be an aspirant Director. You will be able to demonstrate a recent track record of achievement in leading and developing innovative nursing practice in an acute environment, improving quality as well as possessing a working knowledge of regulation, accreditation and governance.

KEY DUTIES
- Ensure the pivotal role as a visible nurse leader is upheld to ensure the nursing voice is heard and supports the care groups in the delivery of high standards of care.
- Ensure quality and safety statutory responsibilities are achieved through the Trusts Quality and Safety Teams.
- Ensure safe staffing mandatory requirements, aligned to best current practice, are met. This includes supporting the Matron for Safe Staffing and ensuring their ongoing professional development to deliver all organisational safe staffing development, review, and reporting.
- Responsible for the 6 monthly nurse staffing establishment reviews in conjunction with the Head of Strategic Resources to ensure workforce safeguard standards are met and presented 6 monthly to the Executive Committee and Trust board, in line with national requirements.
- Professional development leadership with the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance for Nursing (Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates) and non-registered care workers, inclusive of clinical bank staff. Ensure planning, training and delivery objectives reflect best current practice and align to workforce planning.
- Support the translation of national and local Nursing Care initiatives to SMART objectives for clinical services.
- Work in conjunction with the named lead for Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP), ensuring planning, training and delivery objectives reflect best current practice and are achieved.
- Lead on liaising with training and education providers as required, supporting the Corporate Matrons and members of the Learning and Development Team in their direct work with these providers.
- Lead clinical supervision development and assurance for Nursing, Care staff (inclusive of Bank only staff), ensuring all national standards are achieved, keeping the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance briefed on all related matters.
- Support the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance and Medical Director/Assistant Medical Director to ensure the cost improvement programme quality impact assessment (CIP QIA) process for the Trust is robust and aligned to best current practice.
- Support the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance in providing advice, support and guidance to senior managers and clinical staff on issues relating to nursing and care to ensure compliance with national and local agendas.
- Ensure robust leadership of the Nursing and Care Workforce, including development and implementation of Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and coordinating the Trusts annual Nursing and Care conference.
- Support the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance to ensure quality and safety statutory responsibilities are achieved through the Trusts Quality and Safety Teams, deputising line management of the Assistant Director of Safety
- Support the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance and the Assistant Director of Safeguarding to ensure safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act (MCA) statutory responsibilities are achieved through the Trusts Safeguarding and MCA Team as required.
- Chair the monthly matron and ward/departmental nurse managers meetings and the specialist nurse meeting in conjunction with Deputy Director of Governance.
- Deputise for the Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Governance and participate in the annual specialist nurse job planning process with HR and Operational leads. ake line management responsibility for the Quality Improvement and Clinical Audit Team, the Corporate Matrons and the administrative team in Quality and Risk Department.
- Lead on the continued benefits realisation of e-rostering/safe care for nursing & midwifery staff to enable optimisation of resources, including robust adherence to the rostering policy and the achievement of required levels of safer staff across all areas.
- Leading on strategic nursing workforce planning, review, develop and support new and emerging nursing roles, to ensure a workforce for the future.
- Maintain understanding of developments and changes in legislation, national policy and guidance and ensure that senior Trust personnel are kept up to date and informed of the likely impact to Trust services.
