Job summary

Working with the Assistant Director of Quality, the post holder will be part of the team responsible for Quality Standards and maintain the development and implementation of a comprehensive, integrated and assured approach to systems of evidence collection against the requirements of relevant external assessments.

This includes developing and leading the Trust Assessment and Accreditation Scheme (SOCAAS) across the organisation. Facilitating CQC and SOCAAS action and work plans for all areas identified for improvement, ensuring target dates are achieved and adhered to Trust wide, and that statutory requirements are met including those of CQC declaration and registration.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will monitor the quality of care provided by the nursing/ medical teams and will have a freedom to act on their behalf. This will involve holding colleagues to account by making appropriate peer to peer challenges or escalating to their line manager if there are any concerns, supporting and, where required leading, the implementation of remedial actions within clinical areas to ensure provision of safe care.

The postholder will support the staff providing expert advice, to ensure that patient experience is enhanced, and clinical standards are met. Provide effective input into the work of the Trust, to support the achievement of the Trust vision and values and work collaboratively with programme leads. Will act as a Quality Improvement Clinical Lead for colleagues providing appropriate support.

  • Actively promote and facilitate the development of a proactive patient safety, quality and improvement culture throughout the Trust.
  • Coordinate and implement projects in accordance with the Quality, Safety Standards and Nursing Strategy and Patient Experience Strategy within the Trust.
  • Be responsible for development of performance indicators against which patient safety, quality and quality improvement can be measured and continually improved.
  • Be responsible for supporting the development of expertise in the use of patient safety and quality improvement tools and techniques.
  • Act as a role model and promote Trust values & behaviours.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders ensuring a seamless service.
  • Promote best practice and implement quality improvement initiatives
