An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Emergency Department Team. The post holder will support our highly skilled Nursing and Medical Staff in providing 5 star care to all of our patients.
The post holders will also have an extended induction and training programme, prior to commencement in post.
There are both full and part time hours available, and successful candidates must be able to work a rotational 7 day shift pattern of both day & night shifts.
Accident and Emergency is located on Level 0 at Whiston Hospital and the department remains the busiest in Merseyside, seeing and treating over 105,000 patients every year. It has both Adult and Paediatric state of the art emergency care facilities and is committed to the ongoing development of its service in supporting improvements within its service provision. There are five main areas within the department:
- Resuscitation
- Major Treatment
- Observation Ward
- Paediatrics
- Minor Injuries
Experience in Health Care is essential for this role and Emergency Department experience is desirable.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse. The post holder is required to be able to work a rotational 7-day shift pattern of both day & night shifts
The post-holder will be assigned to a Ward/Department in accordance with the skill-mix required, their experience and the service needs of the Trust.
As this is a generic Job Description the post-holder will be given further information regarding the context of their role when assigned to a specific ward/department. The Trust reserves the right; however, to move the post-holder to other Wards/Departments as necessary to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained

To work as part of the Nursing Team undertaking household support tasks and direct care tasks as delegated by the Nurse in Charge.
To support the qualified Nursing Staff in the maintenance of high standards of nursing care to patients.
To assist in providing an environment within the ward that is conductive to patient recovery and pleasant for patients and their families.
To accept responsibility for specifically delegated functions within the ward which the Nurse in Charge feels are appropriate for untrained staff to undertake.
To ensure where entries are made in nursing documentation, that these are correct, legible and comprehensive and countersigned by a registered nurse.
To understand and adhere to all Trust Policies.
To ensure the Health and Safety of patients, relatives and other staff is considered and not prejudiced by the post-holder at any time.
CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To ensure that privacy and dignity of patients is paramount and is not compromised.
