Job summary
An exciting secondment opportunity within the Medicine and Emergency Care Clinical Business Unit for an aspiring Senior Nurse to join our urgent and Emergency Division of MEC on a 6 month basis .
We are looking for a talented, highly motivated, influential leader who is ready to make a real difference to our patient and staff experience, joining our team at Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust as an Urgent and Emergency Care Matron, working in the Directorate of Medicine and Emergency care. We are seeking an inspirational, influential leader who is confident, dynamic, visible, compassionate and has significant experience working at a senior level in healthcare.
The successful candidate must be a role model, demonstrating the Trust values, who will lead clinically and strategically to ensure the delivery of the best possible care to our particularly elderly population.
In addition, must be experienced in managing governance, with an absolute passion and commitment to delivering high quality care.
The individual will work predominantly within the Emergency Department, SDEC, AMU and SSU within the Southport site here at the Trust, joining the clinical directors and directorate managers leading and influencing clinical change within in relation to Emergency admissions, patient flow and discharge, and must therefore have extensive clinical experience along with quality improvement and governance, and will be expected to embrace and fulfil the modern matron roles and responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Southport Site to join the senior team in urgent care, who are committed to continuously improving, adapting and trialling new innovative workforce and clinical models, to deliver a positive environment in which our staff can flourish and fundamentally to ensure excellent patient experience and outstanding care.
The successful candidate will become part of the Medicine and Emergency Care Business unit working alongside the Lead Nurse for Emergency and Ambulatory care, Matrons for Emergency Care, SDEC and Acute admissions, Associate Director or Operation, Directorate Manager and Clinical Director to make up the leadership team.
The focus for the role will be leading our Emergency Care Winter plan to support our reduction of LOS, Patient Quality, Safety and Experience, whilst supporting safe patient flow from ED to discharge, working closely with the Clinical Leads for the Emergency Dept, Directorate Manager, Matrons, and Patient flow team.
You will have direct oversight of the Emergency Department, SDEC and AMU/ SSU over out of hours weekends and related services which deliver care to the patients of Southport and Formby residents along with local surrounding areas.This is an exciting time for a dynamic individual to join the Medicine and Emergency Care CBU and any aspiring candidates are welcomed to contact Joanne Hazlehurst Lead Nurse to discuss the opportunity further.
