Job summary

This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Urology. This is a 12 months fixed term post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

The successful candidate will have ample opportunity in elective, non-elective, and diagnostic activity in Urology.

The successful candidate will be expected to have full Registration with the GMC at the time of appointment. Candidates without GMC will progress if shortlisted for interview, though will be expected to have full GMC registration at the time of appointment.

Interviews will take place on 9th November, 2023

Main duties of the job

The Specialty doctor in Urology will be expected to:

  • Contribute to the care of both out-patients and in-patients.
  • Participate in the urology middle grade on call rota.
  • Help to supervise the work of the FY2 and FY1.
  • Help with emergency work.
  • Assist in the compilation and organization audit sessions at Whiston Hospital
  • Deputize during the day time for absent colleagues.
  • Assist with duties outside those normally rostered but which are judged to be essential for patient care, under exceptional circumstances.
  • Study leave will be granted for attendance at conferences and courses subject to the needs of the service.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake administrative work as directed by the consultant urological surgeon
  • The on call commitmentis 1:7
