Job summary
The post is for a Junior Clinical Fellow working within the Medical Care Group. This is a 4-month fixed term post to cover Maternity leave for Bevan Court in the Frailty Department.
It offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated doctor to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals (Whiston Site) & expand their experience within acute & general medicine.
Candidates must have evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of commencing post, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice.
Due to the short-term nature of the role/service demand, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the GMC and have existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application. Candidates who are not GMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application will not progress through shortlisting stage.
Candidates must also have some experience of working within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Participate in the initial assessment and management of patients with the supervision of more experienced members of the team.
Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties.
Advise FYP trainees and ANPs about management of patients.
Develop skills in managing the wards to avoid unnecessary patient delays and maintain good clinical care to all patients. Professional Responsibilities
To participate in clinical audit and or quality improvement (QI) project.
To participate in continuing professional development.
Educational supervision will be provided.
To maintain a portfolio of training.
To comply with Trust policies and procedures, have (and maintain) GMC registration /licensing.
Administrative Responsibilities
To ensure good documentation and record keeping
To ensure all admin tasks including are complete within local Trust targets.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities
To attend educational opportunities where appropriate
To maintain a portfolio of training.
To support medical & non-medical students within the ward area. Engage actively in teaching others as the work schedule allows.
Research & Audit Responsibilities
To be involved in departmental audit/research/QIPs.
