A vacant full time position, for a Specialised Physiologist has arisen in the Cardio-Respiratory Department!

This post is based in Whiston Hospital and requires that you work flexibly across Whiston and St Helens site.

We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are also a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

Main duties of the job

  • Provides fully comprehensive, unsupervised reports of a highly professional standard in a range of procedures
  • Uses clinical judgements to act on reports in an unsupervised way.
  • Clinical supervision of testing
  • Assist staff training programs for all levels of staff.
  • Peer evaluation of competency levels.
  • Stock control and consumable costs in this area.
  • Assist in the initiation of research and audit programs in order to review services and to monitor
  • Deputise for other service leads in their absence.
  • Participate in on call service and provide out of hours sessions when required.

  • Required on a regular basis to communicate information concerning patients and their test results, giving advice and recommendations to a wide range of staff groups.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To ensure the accuracy of data quality in line with departmental policies and procedures are all current and correct.

TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with the delivery of education programs in a broad range of subjects to a variety of staff throughout the Trus
  • Actively participates in the mentorship arrangement and takes an active interest in liaising with Higher Education Institutes providing teaching and placements when required.

RESEARCH & AUDIT

  • Participate in national and local audits
  • Ensure compliance with all Trust research governance procedures
