Job summary
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Therapy Assistant in our Therapy Team and support the hydrotherapy service.
This very busy and successful team requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide support for physiotherapists and occupational therapists within Cherry Tree House and working within various home and community settings as required.
The post will primarily include work within the hydrotherapy pool area and Cherry Tree House involving general housekeeping, pool side assistant and working through programmes with children and adults both jointly and independently under supervision of the Physiotherapists. Training and support will be available.
The role also involves administrative duties including the use of the hospital data base system. The successful candidate will have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in health care provision and will have a good understanding of working with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and with children with neurological conditions.
A desirable attribute would be knowledge of working in hydrotherapy and skills within use of Cerner or other NHS hospital database systems.
Main duties of the job
o To be responsible and accountable for the quality and standard and safety of ownwork and to achieve the levels of competency required by the role.o To help patients to continue with their treatment programmes and therapeutic activitiesas delegated by a qualified Therapist.o Have own delegated case load or take on a specific area of work eg hydrotherapy, exercise class,sensory rehab. Can progress patients under agreed parameters.o To feedback to the Therapist regarding the patient's progress, or any concerns.o To ensure that all documentation relating to their clinical involvement with patients(electronic or paper) adheres to AHP and Trust standards.o To manage their delegated workload effectively, with support and guidance from theTherapist.o To contribute to the smooth running of the team/unit by carrying out a range of clericaland admin, household and departmental tasks.o To be responsible for the safe use of equipment that they use during treatment.o To at all times maintain the principles of confidentiality of patient information.
