Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locality Lead Midwife (Midwifery Team Coordinator) to join the Maternity Team at Wirral Women and Children's Hospital in a full time post.

The Locality Lead Midwife will be responsible for leading teams of Continuity of Care and Community staff, operationally managing these staff as well as participating in the care of women in caseloads and having oversight and responsibility for community hubs and venues delivering care.The successful candidate will work within the wider maternity management team, also working closely with the multidisciplinary teams across maternity to provide safe, high quality care.

The successful candidate must have a UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. The role involves participation in an on-call rota and covers working both in the week and at weekends.

Main duties of the job

The Locality Lead Midwife will be responsible for the operational running of their teams and community hubs/spaces, providing leadership and clinical advice, optimising the day to day running of clinical activity, supporting maternity issues that may arise, and covering this responsibility for other Locality Lead Midwives when necessary.

Main duties:

To provide effective and extensive leadership, expertise and advice to the CofC/Community teams and wider Maternity Team whilst ensuring, the provision of safe and personalised care in line with best practice, local, regional and national guidance.Work in collaboration with the Clinical Governance Team; lead Consultants, the Consultant Midwife and the senior management team, to ensure the effective management of risk within maternity services.To ensure the safe, efficient and effective management of the service within allocated resources.To act as a role model and expert practitioner in order to develop both midwifery and obstetric led services.Accept operational responsibility and accountability for their teams and provide managerial and professional support to the maternity service and undertake delegated responsibility in the absence of the Matron.
