Job summary
Working closely with your fellow colleagues in the Occupational Health Service multidisciplinary team, the role will require that you apply your professional knowledge and skills to contribute to delivering a comprehensive and effective occupational health services ensuring that high professional and quality standards are maintained on a consistent basis and in line with best practice.
The post holder will work with the existing consultant occupational health physician and assist in delivering the range of responsibilities expected from the occupational health physician role. It is anticipated that initially duties will primarily consist of delivery of clinical occupational health assessments and that with experience a wider range of activities will be undertaken. The full potential scope of those responsibilities is listed in the following paragraphs.
Opportunities will be given to become familiar with the work environment. Development will be encouraged, including, where appropriate, progression to accredited specialist status via the CESR route.

- Working towards AFOM
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Experience in working with the multi- disciplinary management of an OH team
- Some experience in Occupational Health in a non-NHS environment
- Experience in respiratory medicine, psychiatry, dermatology or rheumatology
- Breadth of experience within any outside speciality
- Appropriate level of clinical knowledge
- Knowledge and application of up to date evidence based practice
- Understanding of clinical risk management
- Ability to share in leading the service towards its strategic aims
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
- Experience of using OH records management systems (e.g. COHORT or OPAS)
