Job summary
The post-holder is a highly experienced, state registered Biomedical Scientist and leads a large team of scientists and support staff.
The Chief BMS has technical scientific responsibility for Microbiology laboratory, and deputises for the Laboratory Service Manager and Quality Manager.
Ensure quality of technical processes and day to day management of the laboratory service. Support and deputise for Laboratory Service Manager.
Main duties of the job
- Lead Chief BMS for maintenance and development of methodologies and technologies.
- Co-ordinator of training & development.
- Deputy to Laboratory Service Manager.
- Deputy to Quality Manager.
- To assist with managing the daily running of the diagnostic laboratory.
- To develop the microbiology service.
- To provide expert scientific advice on these developments and methodologies.
- To provide leadership by managing, appraising, selecting, and recruiting staff for the department and to liaise with head of Clinical Services.
