Job summary
Ward 10 is a busy 22 bedded Trauma & Orthopaedic Ward. The team is well established and received consistent positive feedback by it's service users. The ideal candidate will have relevant deputy / band 6 experience of ward or unit management, staff supervision and line management.
We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership and team working skills, someone with a passion for delivering quality care, maintaining high standards and patients safety.
Main duties of the job
To develop clinical expertise and evidence based practice.
To undertake patient care where appropriate and act as a clinical expert in the area of practice.
Create a therapeutic environment meeting the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
To promote a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of care and implement changes to improve systems.
Respond to patient and carer complaints, assisting the Directorate to respond to them within agreed time span, ensuring appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence.
Participate in audits and implement change, based on audited outcomes, encouraging others to become involved.
Through appraisals identify peoples strengths and weaknesses, providing feedback and support to maximise their contribution and personal development.
Maintain discipline and deal with staff problems in a supportive way, embracing all aspects of Human Resource policies and guidelines.
Support the Deputy's and other members of staff to develop their roles.
Continuously update own skills and knowledge and maintain awareness of clinical issues.
