Reporting to the Matron the post holder is responsible for the delivery of safe, timely, high-quality patient care and experience. Working collaboratively with the Matron, operational managers, and clinicians to deliver a seamless journey for patients moving through the acute emergency clinical pathways.
They will have a specific focus on visible, accessible, and strong clinical leadership, working in partnership with operational and clinical teams to ensure the delivery of quality care. The Patient Flow Clinical Co-Ordinator will provide senior nursing/AHP support, operational and clinical advice to all areas within the Trust out of hours.
You will lead the site both in hours and out of hours. Taking responsibility for safe, timely and effective patient flow throughout the Trust.
The post holder will have set management duties to undertake along with line management of others in the team.
Main duties of the job
Have a visible presence within the Trust. To facilitate and lead the team in a positive and flexible manner. Use a high level of interpersonal and leadership skills to accurately prioritise calls to junior doctors using a high level of interpretation and judgement, providing clinical advice and support when required. Work in alliance with the Infection, Prevention and Control Team, leading the team in ensuring prevention of hospital acquired infection a key objective, with the outcome of a reduction of hospital acquired infections including MRSA, C. Diff. In accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the post holder will actively participate in the prevention and control of infection within the capacity of their role. The Act requires the post holder to attend infection prevention and control training on induction and at regular updates and to take responsibility for the practical application of the training in the course of their work. Infection prevention and control must be included in any personal development plan and/or appraisal. Support the Matron in serious incident investigations and harms validation and utilise improvement methodology to ensure a reduction in harms within inpatient areas.
