Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) working in partnership with Wirral Integrated Care System and Wirral Community Health and Care Trust (WCHC) are committed to provide a high quality service to patients on Wirral who require the administration of IV antibiotics in the home or community clinic setting.
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the multi-disciplinary OPAT IV Access team as an OPAT/IV access specialist nurse.
The post holders will work in close liaison with secondary care and community services to deliver care along agreed clinical pathways supporting early discharge and admission avoidance.
Main duties of the job
The role will include providing specialised, highly skilled care to patients and will provide support for both community nursing teams and GP's including training, education and advice.
In addition to the ward based clinical skills, the practitioner will be required to develop a range of additional skills or techniques including line placement, working on rotation to support the WUTH IV access service.
The post holder will be based at WUTH, but will also work in the community. The post holder must be able to drive and have access to a car which can be used for work purposes.
The core working hours are Mon-Fri (9am-5pm) plus the requirement to participate on a weekend on-call rota from home.
