Job summary
This is an entry level position that can lead to an exciting career in an area of Pharmacy that is unique. Candidates who do not currently hold a NVQ level 2 are eligible to apply but will be placed into a progressive post and paid at Band 2 until completion of the Level 2 qualification. All candidates will have the opportunity to enrol on the Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) Level 3 course.
This post holder will provide an effective aseptic service by producing and distributing sterile
parenteral medication in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) the standards
required for the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Specials Licence
and other National/Regional Guidelines in a timely manner to all customers, both within and outside
Wirral University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH).

This is a rewarding role for an individual who is an excellent communicator, motivated and able to demonstrate the ability to meet challenges and deliver to deadlines. You will partake in an in-house training program of development to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained and will have the opportunity to be involved in service development and procedures implementation of our aseptic services.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will manufacture a range of products, including TPN (Nutrition feeding bags) and chemotherapy and undertake other duties to support staff within the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit to contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients.
He/she will dispense and manufacture parenteral medication using highly specialist skills
and techniques and specialist equipment.
He/she will undertake routine daily and weekly environmental monitoring as per
procedures.
He/she will issue and dispense final products to internal and external customers, creating
advice notes, dispatching orders and liaising with customers as required.
He/she will ensure that all products are charged correctly to internal and external
customers by accurately using the departments stock control system (JAC).
He/she will ensure adequate consumable supplies are available to meet the demands of
the service.
He/she will train and support junior and new members of staff.
He/she will implement and follow all departmental procedures.
