Job summary
The Histopathology department consists of a dynamic and enthusiastic team of consultants all dedicated to their areas of sub-specialisation. The department is looking for similar team members to join the existing 9 WTE consultants to maintain the excellent quality and TATs to deliver the ever increasing workload. However all sub-specialisation interest and or general work will be catered for. All candidates will be offered a 10+PA contract; however any applicant who is unable for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
The 10 PA job plan consists of 8.0 PAs of DCC and 2.0 PAs of SPA. The department utilises a modified RCPath Warwick point system and individual workload is matched to their experience. The department also performs coronial autopsies and an interest in post-mortem will be helpful however it is not essential. The department is fully UKAS accredited and the trust is a regional centre for Urology.
The Department had successfully contributed to the Cheshire & Mersey digital pathology pilot project and is in the process implementing full digitalisation of cellular pathology after a successful national bid. The network is also in the process of procuring a network wide new pathology laboratory information computer system.
