Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen on OPAU for a part time clinical support workers to join are up and coming team.

OPAU is an 28 bed assessment unit for over 74s who may suffer from frailty, our aim to view our patient from a MDT prospective to create the best possible care plan and safest discharges.
We liaise with community services as well as provide frailty clinics Monday to Friday for our patients.

Main duties of the job
- Assist the Registered Nurse in administrating direct patient care.
- Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Communication with patients including discussion on patient comfort and safety and recording of communications on Wirral Millennium.
- Prioritising own workload.
- Inform qualified staff of changes in patient's condition or observations.
- Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate.
- Communication with patients/carers talking into consideration the needs of the individual.
- Undertake ordering of supplies, within agreed stock levels, ensuring stored correctly.
- Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment.
- Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
- Report any concerns or anxieties that patients disclose to the appropriate health care professional in charge of the patient care.
- Participate in ward safety huddles and raise concerns as required.
- Undertake bladder scanning/blood glucose readings and Montreal cognitive assessments as required and advised by a registered practitioner.
- Document when appropriate, position changes within Wirral Millennium and inform nurse in charge of any patient discomfort in a timely manner.
- Use Trust processes (SBAR Handover and Nutritional Board) to identify patients that can safely drink fluids.
- Encourage patients that can drink regular fluids across the day as per their care plan.
