Job summary

The overall aim of this post is to deliver and evaluate a quality programme of Resuscitation and Clinical Skills Training that impacts upon patient care.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role:

  • Deliver Resuscitation and clinical skills training for multidisciplinary healthcare staff and undergraduate medical students.
  • Assist in planning and delivering teaching clinical skills in collaboration with the Higher

Education Institutes (HEIs) (University of Liverpool).

  • Assist in planning and delivering final LOCAs examination in accordance to the University of Liverpool.
  • Work in collaboration with the University of Liverpool to deliver the MBCHB clinical skills curriculum in practice.
  • Work in collaboration with the University of Liverpool to assess medical students in mock and final OSCE exams.
  • To assist in development of competency and or assessment frameworks for clinical skills development which takes into account the requirements from local and national initiatives.
  • To undertake education and training needs analysis/audit of clinical skills required to support medical infrastructure within the trust.
  • Support the learning and development of staff undertaking new clinical skills in the clinical area.
  • To support the implementation of government driven initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of simulated scenario training with and without the use of training manikins and advanced human patient simulators.
  • To support CEDT in delivery of mandatory/essential training
  • Programme the advanced patient simulator and create new scenarios.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of appropriate research findings to positively influence clinical practice

The successful candidate will lead and support in mandatory and essential skill training to the organisation clinical staff. They will be part of the clinical skill team and work alongside the resuscitation officer. This is a unique role that will work to support and deliver training to both pre and post registrant's.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support, deliver and develop training for resuscitation, first aid and the delivery of mandatory and essential training for Trust staff and undergraduate students.
  • Ensure all session facilitated meet Quality Assurance standards.
  • In-patient cardiac arrest and emergency equipment audit data collection, compilation and escalation as required.
  • Develop and maintain positive inter-departmental working relationships.
  • Assist with the development of training outlines, session plans, study guides, learning objectives, and competency statements and assessment tools ensuring compliance with local and national guidelines and policies and promoting, where appropriate, the benefits of shared learning across staff groups.
  • Directly deliver training as planned to a variety of professional groups and undergraduate medical students.
  • Assist in organising and assessing on mock and final practical examinations (such as Assessments for Learning (AFLs) and Liverpool Clinical Assessment System (LOCAS) for undergraduate medical students.
  • To support the delivery of the WEPP for newly qualified nurses, as part of the Preceptorship.
  • To support training for staff new to the Trust
  • To support the delivery of the Core Skills course training for clinical support workers, as part of the Care Certificate Programme.

Qualifications, Specific Experience and Training

Essential

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse/ODP
  • Minimum of three years post-registration experience in at least one acute area
  • Relevant Degree (or in progress)
  • ALS/APLS/NLS Provider (or willing to undertake)
  • Post graduate teaching qualification or experience

Desirable

  • Relevant completed degree
  • ALS / APLS / EPALS / NLS / GIC instructor
  • PGCE or Cert Ed in Education

  • Able to work autonomously and also part of a team
