    If the answer to all these questions is YES, then a role as a Non-Executive Director at Wirral University Teaching Hospital might be for you.

    We provide a comprehensive range of services, as one of the biggest acute NHS Trusts in the North West. We serve an ever expanding population of circa 400,000 residents and employ over 6,500 members of staff (the largest employer on the Wirral Peninsula).

About us

We are looking for a clinically focused non-executive director to join our Board in guiding our workforce to deliver the highest quality care for local people. In order to provide this clinical oversight, we are looking for someone with a qualification in a medical, nursing, or AHP arena.

We want individuals who can bring a wealth of knowledge from large and complex organisations. As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in moving our organisation forward, developing strategies, providing challenge, and assuring quality. You will need to think strategically, act independently, and build strong relationships. We place great value on working with our partners within the health and care system to achieve shared goals.

  • A senior clinician, who has undertaken leadership roles at Executive and/or Board level
  • Direct experience of leading a large professional workforce, with a vision of embedding sector-leading best practice and partnership working
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the work of a Board operating in a very challenging and regulated environment.

Desirable

  • Board level experience in an NHS organisation would be helpful but not essential.
  • Experience in understanding and supporting patient care and particularly maternity services would be helpful but not essential.
