An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic optometrist to join our progressive the ophthalmology team at Wirral University Teaching Hospital
Applications are invited from GOC registered optometrists willing to work part time as part of a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists with a wide range of specialist interests, optometrists, orthoptists and other support staff.
Previous hospital experience is desirable but not essential as training will be given to support your ongoing professional development with a view to career progression.
Main duties of the job
The role offers the opportunity to be develop clinically in a broad range of core optometry services eg paediatric and adult refraction, contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation.
Our optometrists work alongside consultant ophthalmologists in paediatric, corneal, glaucoma, acute care and retinal clinics allowing you to develop your professional skills.
It would be desirable if the appointee has experience and higher qualifications in an extended role or that they would be willing to undertake further study in this area.
There will be opportunity to participate in regular teaching, training and clinical audit to enhance your knowledge and also contribute to the training of others in the department.
You should be motivated to provide the highest standards of patient care and to constantly improve your knowledge and skills to benefit our patients.
