An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy IT Senior Support Technician- to join the Pharmacy IT team at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with experience of supporting pharmacy specific software and hardware within a healthcare setting. The post-holder will be required to assist with the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of new and existing software for use within the department. The post-holder will have an aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to pharmacy IT systems. This includes automated dispensing robot's, medicines management systems and asset inventory solutions. This will be in conjunction with a number of other systems used to support the pharmacy department at WUTH. The post-holder should be an excellent communicator that can work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Pharmacy has been recognised as a high performer by NHSE and CQC. We are a large department, employing 95 pharmacists and 47 MMTs alongside excellent support staff. We deliver services to the acute hospital, primary care networks (PCN) and a range of external customers for aseptic services and via our wholesaler's dealers authority.

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy IT team are a pioneering multi-disciplinary team consisting of project managers, medicines management pharmacy technicians, data analysts and IT support technicians who work together to deliver and support the IT service for Pharmacy across all sites at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals.

Within this collaborative environment, you will provide technical support for a variety of digital systems being utilised to support the daily operation of the pharmacy service.

The role will require the use of data from multiple sources to create ad hoc reports which provide assurances and guide management decisions. There is also a requirement to understand and communicate technical specifications to non-IT staff and the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for staff throughout the Pharmacy department and wider WUTH organisation as required, who are involved in the use or proposed use of Pharmacy related IT systems or infrastructure including networked and standalone PCs, clinical and administrative systems (JAC,ARX,OMNICELL, PTS,COMARK).

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or experience (minimum 5 years in an IT supporting role)

Desirable

  • Demonstrable NHS experience working in a pharmacy/clinical setting
  • European Computer Drivers License

  • IT skills to allow full use of Excel and word processing packages
  • Experienced user of querying IT tools e.g. Crystal Reports, SQL, MS access
