Technical Development Lead - Systems Integration

Job summary

The role will manage, develop, and support System Integration and related complex EPR (Cerner Millennium) build. Integration tasks are essential to allow clinical systems to communicate and transfers messages across the hospitals and wider healthcare system

The post holder will be a subject matter expert (SME) in systems integration tasks and be able to support in other areas of EPR development. They will be responsible for developing best practice and ensuring its adoption in-line with the hospital digital strategy.

The post holder will have the core capabilities to deal with a wide range of stakeholders and the skills to propose, define and deliver the appropriate solutions. They will work closely with users of the IT systems, system suppliers, stakeholders, information governance and the other teams within the Trust in providing systems.

The post holder will be responsible for the management and support of these solutions including

  • Change management
  • Technical resourcing
  • Training provision to wider informatics teams/end users through documentation
  • Direct Technical Management of the 2 x Integration analysts

Main duties of the job

  1. Subject matter expert in System Integration, and related Millennium Build
    1. Subject matter expert in system integration requires the post holder to be familiar in the Trusts current interfaces, ability to comprehend complex workflows and an expert in advanced programming, particularly object oriented Javascript.
    2. Develop new interfaces integrating them into Millennium or diagnostics systems, implement and support interfaces using a variety of technologies, tools and standards.
  2. Be able to plan complex deliveries with stakeholder engagement, with the appropriate level of communication with minimal risk and service impact.
  3. Provide input during strategic planning of systems integration where the post holders are a SME in that area.
  4. Developing systems interface to a high standard, ensuring best practice is followed, testing, assurance, and delivery, following Informatics change control policy.
  5. Proactively review systems and feedback to stakeholders with potential concerns and improvements.
  6. Follow the Trusts governance process for system requests.
  7. Providing in-depth specialist technical knowledge and expertise to members of the team and other teams within Informatics in determining the best IT solutions in-line with the Trusts IT strategy
  8. Recommending the adoption of new designs and frameworks that support best practice
