Job summary

We are seeking to appoint one full time Clinical fellow to work primarily on neonatal unit. The appointable candidate will be working around 45 hours per week basic with additional hours for on call commitment.

Main duties of the job

Post holder will be contributing in Tier 1 rota mainly for the neonates.Duties for the post holder will be primarily undertaken in the level 2 neonates, delivery suit and postnatal ward.

Candidate may also work in other areas like Paediatric Admissions Assessment Unit, Paediatric Wards, Day case unit and Paediatric Outpatient Department.Main responsibilities:o Attending Induction Course which includes awareness training of NHS Structure and Local Trusto Becoming acquainted with management protocols/guidelines for Paediatrics and help update themo Undertaking ward rounds in conjunction with a Consultanto Assessing and managing patients in different setting i-e ED, PAU, Delivery suit, neonates, postnates.o Attending clinics with a Consultanto Attending the PILS/NLS course if not already trainedo Assisting and leading in neonatal/pediatrics resuscitationo Supervising the clinical work of junior Paediatric doctorso Ensuring delivery of a quality Paediatric serviceo Ensuring children are fit for dischargeo Undertaking appropriate IT trainingo Participation in clinical audito Attending Mandatory trainingo Working with colleagues from non-medical professionso Multi-disciplinary assessment of children's health needso The balance and interaction of psycho-social and medical factors affecting children's healtho Awareness of the public health aspects of children's healtho Gaining confidence in teaching/training of medical/nursing staffo Improving knowledge of management issues

About us

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community.   • A minimum of 1 years full time postgraduate training and experience (or equivalent EEA training
  • Ability to demonstrate relevant experience and qualifications to undertake St(L) on call duties including call duties

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Ability to undertake Paediatric practical Procedures) (e.g. IV Cannulation, UVC, UVA, long lines)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision-making
  • Previous audit experience
  • Participation in Clinical governance
