Job summary
The School Nursing, Health Visiting and Teenage Pregnancy form the Healthy Child Programme 0-19 which deliver public health services to babies, children and young people and their families. The overarching aim of public health services is to prevent, promote and protect the health and wellbeing of children and families and aligns with the Families First for Children Principles. They work with stakeholders across a number of settings and organisations to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and ensure that families in need of help or at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity.
As a senior staff nurse in the Strengthening Families Team you will manage your own caseload of babies, children and young people to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care. You will be supervised and supported by Band 7 qualified School Nurses and Health Visitors supporting babies, children and young people who are subject of child in need and child protection plans. You will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of interventions within the wider Healthy Child Programme 0-19 and Family Help FFCP pathway.

Main duties of the job
To use public health knowledge and expertise to provide high quality, safe evidenced based care and interventions to the children, young people and their families utilising the FFCP Family Help pathways.
To provide clinical leadership support and professional direction within the skilled mixed team ensuring that high standards and safe levels of care are provided to children and young people via the Family Help pathways being adopted within practice.
Work as an autonomous practitioner within a multi-agency arena, applying your knowledge and expertise in health and wellbeing to enable children & young people to reach their full potential (physically emotionally and socially). This includes contributing to child protection procedures, Family help support and children in care
Within the scope of professional practice and using appropriate frameworks, take lead responsibility to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate the health needs of specific groups of children e.g. children on child protection plans, child in need plans and family help plans to employ the use of the 'Our Family' Family Help assessment framework. In partnership with the child, young person and parents/carers agree care plans to improve health and wellbeing
